Origin Story
Vedic tradition speaks of three fundamental debts every person is born with — Dev Rina (debt to the gods), Rishi Rina (debt to the sages), and Pitra Rina (debt to one's ancestors) — as described in the Taittiriya Upanishad. When Pitra Rina remains unpaid across multiple generations due to neglected rites, the ancestors are believed to remain trapped, unable to progress. Tripindi Shraddha was established by sages as a way to settle this accumulated debt across three generations in a single comprehensive ritual, ensuring their liberation.
