Origin Story
The Puranas describe how Goddess Lakshmi emerged from the ocean of milk during the great Samudra Manthan, seated on a lotus and radiating divine beauty, choosing Lord Vishnu as her eternal consort. Because she appeared as the ultimate treasure sought by both devas and asuras during this cosmic churning, she is worshipped as the giver of all wealth, prosperity, and auspiciousness in the household.
